N.B.A. Negotiations Will Resume Saturday

Whatever internal divisions may exist — real, imagined Learning Language  or sensationalized — the leaders of the N.B.A. players union projected unity on Thursday, then turned their focus back to a more daunting adversary: the owners.

League and union officials will return to the bargaining table Saturday in another attempt to end a devastating four-month lockout. The meeting will come eight days after talks collapsed. And it will come on the heels of a chaotic week for the union, which has been fighting   Rosetta Stone Worksoff conspiracy theories and reports of infighting.

Union leaders met for more than three hours Thursday, mostly to formulate their bargaining strategy but in part to address the reports. Then they met with reporters, having literally and figuratively closed ranks.

Derek Fisher and Billy Hunter — the union’s president and executive director — sat side by side at a conference table, flanked by five players from the executive board. Rifts were denied, reports rebutted and common goals reaffirmed.

“Derek and I have an excellent relationship,” Hunter said. Supra Shoes  “The board, we’re all together. So if you’re all expecting anything other than that, you’re wasting your time.”

Hunter called Fisher a friend and said he has treated him “like a son.” Keyon Dooling, the board’s first vice president, called Fisher “the best president that we’ve ever had as a union.” Maurice Evans, another board member, said he trusted Fisher “100 percent.”

Hunter said the proposed 50-50 split wasSupra Shoes  misleading. The owners deduct $600 million in expenses before that pot is divided. As a policy matter, Hunter also said that players “deserve more than the owners get.”

“My position is, I don’t think there should ever be    Supra Shoes a circumstance where owners make the same or more than the players,” Hunter said.

Neither the league nor the unionRosetta Stone has given any indication that it intends to alter its stance heading into Saturday’s negotiating session. If they remain divided by 2.5 percentage points, there is little hope that this round of talks will end any better than the last four rounds.

Hunten made no attempt to project optimism, saying, “I don’t know that we’re going to accomplish much, but we’re going to meet.”
